Intricacies of Creation.

Developing characters requires a level of deep, intimate thought. You have to start from a name, or a specific appearanceĀ that you want the character to have, and build on it from there. Do you give it humanity? Are you going to take it away from them? Is it a monster that’s misunderstood? What of its personality? Its demeanor? The history of its existence: Is it long or is it only beginning, and how does that play into your tale? What does it take to make this being special?

I find myself building and breaking characters everyday. Some of them I go back to and implement into a short tale, just to see how it plays out. It’s something I don’t think one can “look” at without giving them a test run to see if they mesh well with a similar tale you’re trying to tell. Creation is a beautiful thing.
