2016: The Apex of the Comic Book Nerd Era

So, today was the airing of the third (technically, yes) trailer for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War (which is basically Avengers 2.5). Check it out, because there’s a lot of new scenes in it, if you haven’t already:

I have to say, it legitimately made me disregard Batman v. Superman with that trailer.

Marvel may not be going Rated R, but Robert Downey Jr. will now and forever be my favourite actor, and if these awards ceremonies don’t start taking comic book films seriously as contenders, and only pandering to a certain demographic, I’m liable to begin lobbying for boycott of ALL awards ceremonies.

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again: 2016 is the year that being a comic book nerd becomes STANDARD.

This is the apex of a new era’s origin. These films may have started in the eighties, but now the momentum is so strong that it’s legitimately drawing in the entire world.

This is the kind of thing you can’t write. There’s no script for this beautiful transition.
